[LIP] timestamp in syslog using printk

Hello everybody,

i am running a module in kernel space.
I am using printk function to write the Warning messages to syslog file 
(/var/log/messages).
The syslog file maintains the messages with timestamp.This timestamp has 
time information in
hours:minutes:seconds format only. I need the timestamp granularity in 
milliseconds, like hours:minutes:seconds:milliseconds.


Is there any other way by which I can accomplish my goal.I mean can I use 
any other system call to get the timestamp in milliseconds.
Since I am working in kernel space, I guess I can  not use the 
gettimeoftheday or something similar.
