Hi :-) You have to write an entry to GRUB - it isn't difficult, because GRUB i genious adn simply find the file menu.lst - it should be in your /boot directory - probably /boot/grub/menu.lst title WinXP root (hd0,0) chainloader +1 first line is the title of position second is the (hd_number_of_phisycal_disk , number_of_partition) where the XP is installed - this is the thing you have to find out yourself third - the "call for another bootloader" - for Win-XP How to find you the number of disk and partition of whin XP When you start your computer and the grub menu is show press c on keybord it will bring you the command line, where you can test above setting type root(hd0,0) - press enter it will show you the type of filesystem which you enter - if it isn,t what you looking for write again for example root(hd0,1) after it write chainloader +1 and then boot I it fail, you can try from beggining ;-) ------and about NTFS It shouldnt be a problem to mount this partition under /mnt/.../ in Linux - but it will be only for reading - LInux is unable to write anything on NTFS. Probably you have to install some additional package form your RH install CD's Hope To Help Asia Sledzik ------ WiadomoĹÄ oryginalna ------ Od: alok bharti <alok_mact-/[email protected]> Data: 2004-01-30 13:15 Temat: [LIP] booting problem (redhat-7.2 with win-XP) :-> hi all.. :-> :-> My PC is having win-Xp (with NTFS file system on disk :-> partition) installed in it.. :-> :-> i wanted to install linux (red hat-7.2) in another :-> hard-disk partition...i gave grub as a bootloader :-> progaramm during linux installation... :-> Now when installation finished, grub is not showing :-> windows-xp in grub menu... :-> so now i am not able to boot my computer on win-Xp.. :-> :-> i am not even able to mount the windows partition of :-> hard-disk on linux...mount command says : NTFS file :-> system not supported... :-> :-> :-> Can any-body suggest, How can i recover my win-Xp??.. :-> Are there any settings or conf-files in linux which :-> can help me???...Or Is it impossible now???.. :-> :-> I have some data on Win-Xp partition...if its not :-> possible to boot win-Xp, How can i recover the :-> data???... :-> :-> thanX in adavance... :-> :-> Alok Bharti :-> Research Engineer, :-> C-DOT, New Delhi :-> :-> :-> __________________________________ :-> Do you Yahoo!? :-> Yahoo!
