I don't remember the issue, but "Linux For You" had
this information in one of their issues that BARC and
DRDO in India are using LInux and other Open Source
S/w for their purposes. This was primarily because of
export regulations imposed by many developed countries
on sophesticated technologies which can help in
developing weapons and nucler research projects. And
since Linux is open source they can modify it as per
their own requirements.
Linux for You is barely an year old, so it won't be
difficult for you to search the issues.
