[LIP] using perl to change password

Hi!
i am trying to change the user password from web(to a
random number) using perl on linux system. I am using
chngpwd./pl file provided with Authen moudule. Now
when i try execute this script with system("") command
my web app hangs. I had set uid to zero using
setuid(0) before calling this script.
Can any one point to me why this is happening. I am
not getting any error messages in the apache log.
