Several computer magazines have distributed standalone JDKs in the past.
In fact PCQ Linux 2004 has JDK 1.4.2 built into the distro. Probably the
issue is about presenting the license agreement interface to the user to
which he is supposed to agree before using the JDK. As long as that can
be tackled, maybe it should not be all too difficult.

For MySQL -- MySQL Administrator, MySQL Control Centre, MyPHPAdmin
For PgSQL -- PgAdmin, phpPgAdmin

Okay, fine about no Windows versions and development-tools-only. I hope
you don't drop those in #5 -> libraries. Particularly, ICE is something
every distributed application developer ought to know about - you may
like to take a look to find out for yourself. (ICE has a dependency of
Berkely DB which should be recompiled from source in many cases, so
please also include the BDB source.)

Most distros carry both Gtk+ and Qt libraries already. However, the
variants like GtkMM, PyGTK etc should be carried. And WxWidgets is
something that would be really nice to have.

Now, one addition, if I may. ;-)
PDF generation libraries are among app developer's favourites. Please
consider including FPDF (Free PDF, for PHP) and iText (for Java) PDF
generation libraries which are free as in freedom to use.
