avseq01, 02 etc are actually junk files(also known as ISO gateways) which
exist on VCD just bcoz somehow some OS do not allow raw access to
devices(like reading /dev/cdrom to get the raw bytes on the CD....we dont
need to bother obout those some OSes). So to allow an easy entry point to
raw data one has to make a filesystem which can be then easily read. But
in strict senses those files(avseq's) are not files cuz they exist on one
track while pointing to data in other tracks.

BTW a VCD usually has first track this kind of info...and rest of the
tracks are raw media files.

That is why linux rejects to read those files while those "some OS" gets
an easy way out.

Now to get ur problem solved:
As someone already suggested try mplayer vcd://1 which means to play the
first track AFAIK. The syntax is mplayer vcd://[track]/[device] and i
generally use mplayer vcd:////dev/cdrom or
vcd:////dev/cdrecorder.....vcd:// will work if u have one cd-drive or u
put or cd in the default drive for mplayer(I should not be saying all this
in this forum....this is all given[at least the this para] in the DOCS).
As is always said RTFM b4 asking questions.

To copy the CD or all some of the tracks use cdrdao...read the man
page...i dont rem the syntax right now.
