[LIP] Quick emacs query

I am trying emacs out. Wd appreciate if you could tell me how to:

1. search for word under cursor (similar to pressing asterisk or # in
vim).

2. insert-completion : complete current word with match in same file
(like Ctrl-X-P in vim).

3. Lastly, I like the emacs colors (emacs21.3). Where can i get hold of
the scheme. I am trying to get the same colors on Vim. Especially the
background and normal text color. The closest i am getting is "grey30"
and white, but thats not as nice.
