Unless this is an academic exercise, I frankly don't understand why you 
want to remove GRUB from the MBR, from where it can boot Windows quite 
competently.

If you still want to go through the process, then you have to go through 
a convuluted process of copying 512B (read dd) from the boot sector of 
the Linux / partition and installing it in boot.ini.  Alternately, you 
can use command line loadlin utility to boot Linux from a DOS boot 
prompt.  Details on both are available on the 'Net.  Google "boot Linux 
from windows"
