An acquaintance from the National Association for the Blind, India
(http://www.nabindia.org/sited/index1.htm) informs about an effort from
the DAISY Consortium to work towards producing Open Source Software that
would address the current issues in this space.

Please forward this to interested folks.

The DAISY Consortium is looking to establish a long-term commitment in
order to expand its pool of dedicated software engineers. The proposed
full-time contract will offer an initial 12 months duration, but will be
subject to renewal based on successful completion of objectives.
The successful applicant will apply his/her ability to cope with a steep
learning curve, working with bleeding edge multimedia- and accessibility
standards as well as software design patterns. Although it is expected
that the holder will rapidly become autonomous, he/she will benefit from
the support of expert team-mates in a friendly professional environment.
The position holder will operate mostly in a remote context under tight
supervision, collaborating with a world-wide agile team.
