it isn't really specific to abasar.net, the issue is slightly more wide.
a large quantum of bengali literature content is produced by ABP via
it's various publications - they don't do much on Unicode. Leaving ABP
aside, there are a bunch of (little ?) magazines who exist, and they
aren't doing web content that is Unicode compliant. My questions were
two fold:

o what stops them from doing Unicode on the web ?
o what stops them from producing web content and even generating some
revenue out of it ?

the first one is more with the aim of comprehending what technological
or technical difficulties exist in the workflow of content production
that mandates a non Unicode dataset. the second one of course is more
business centric as to why they don't see the need to come together and
perhaps 'sell' content via a consortium driven portal.

as regards Unicode support on abasar.net - i don't see much happening.
perhaps they can experiment with a CMS ?
