DVD burning and reading

Dear Members
I recently observed the following facts about DVD burning in Linux through K3b. In some of the DVD's I burned using K3b, the result shows that it is successful. But when I tried to read it in Linux, either nothing happens. Most often those DVDs are readable by WINDOWS!! Even they can be read by DVD players if I burn songs in that.
Why does this happen? Where is the fault? Why cannot linux read DVDs it burned while windows can?
