Bluetooth dial-up internet

hi all,
I'm kusan...a novice lover of linux/open-source/gnu
I'm using bsnl gprs/edge internet on mandriva2008 through Hi-Tech
adapter+SonyEricsson G502 phone. But the connection is slow.
Both the adapter and phone support bluetooth V2.
Does kbluetoothd support bluetooth v2 ? Does it have anything to do
with the speed of my connection?
Does signal strength of mobile tower play any role? I am far from
nearest tower and don't get full strength signal..
