Unfortunatly no longer trust the software. As near as I can tell to stay up to date I need to ride the bleeding edge and track the lastest OpenWRT. The OpenWRT packages also like to overwrite my custom scripts when it updates. The advantages of Debian (or OpenBSD, etc) are the regular security updates, the ease of customizing the installed software, and the shear volume of supported software available. I have not used Mikrotik's routerOS. It could be excellent. However I would rather not get trapped into only using the software they support and only using the hardware as they imagined it would be used. Which is too bad.
