I'm running Ubuntu on an old PowerBook G4.  I can't run the default
battery monitor, gnome_power_manager since it interferes with suspend
when I close the lid.  And the Xlib it has really sucks CPU cycles, so
any monitor I find takes 3 to 4% of my CPU to run.  So, I thought I'd
write my own.
