Interesting.

Well, I know you can modify the order in which the mouse buttons are
used, via X config.  That won't dupe buttons, but it will reorder them for
you.

Other than that, I don't know off the top of my head.  imwheel might
allow doubling, you could check the man page.  Not sure though.
