Hi Ohad,

If you are looking for a media center case with a infra-red receive,
remote control or even a LED display on it.

I can find it in Sim Lim Sq, I CYBERMIND carry a few design by
SILVERSTONE.

Hi Anand,

I use a PVR-250 which is a USB MPEG2 encoder, I bought it 3
years ago bundled with a usb IR (receiver and transmitter) which works
with very little effort with LIRC.

as far for the laptop, I've considered it, my
main argument against it at this time is that i want my wife to be able
to play music without opening the tv, thats why I was looking for a
fully integrated solution.

cheers,

Ohad

Hi Ohad,

I am thinking of building a Media Center by installing XBMC or some such

software on a laptop. Laptops nowadays have 300GB+ disks, HDMI, WLAN,
DVDROM

or BDROM drives etc.

You could extend the diskspace by either networking (samba? ) or
additional

USB drives.

A combined wireless KB+Mouse enables your TV to function as a youtube
device

too

A laptop can be hidden easily in a TV cabinet.

There are two problems I need to solve: Linux compatible USB-TV
adapter, LIRC

integration

Any suggestions for Linux compatible USB-TV adapters? Any
recommendations will

be just nice for the IT show ;-)

Regards

Anand
