I had some issues with some of the latest Intel NIC cards on Debian lenny revision 3 (2.6.26 kernel). Particularly if they require newer versions of the igb driver to operate. Debian seems to be a bit dated for drivers in their stock kernels. If you have this issue you can use DKMS to auto recompile the igb driver source code at boot time after a kernel updates. Works like a charm. I suspect that 2.6.31 kernel should have support tho.
