[Rant] DigitalOne's confusing FREE feature

After reading the starting of this article [ http://www.digitalone.com.sg/guides/article/12140 ] about 'FREE' software [ http://www.digitalone.com.sg/guides/article/12162 ] I want to stop. What's the point? At the start, he says: ===== "There are two main groups of free software that are available. The first group is shareware, which often may only be used for a limited period, after which you will have to pay to continue using it. The second group is freeware, which is perpetually free although some vendors include advertisements in the software." ===== Then he goes on to confuse people by saying: ===== There is also a group of applications built on open source platforms and licence models. They are often free too. ===== It appears to me that he does not know the difference between 'free beer' and 'free speech' or even 'open speech'. It's no wonder 'important' people in dotSG don't get free/open software (in contrast to, say, the government in dotMY) when the local tech journalists don't get it right either.
