A calendar must start somewhere.  Thanks to the RCC, the
most effective organization in history, most countries
agreed on a certain start point.  Just why that point was
selected is irrelevant as long as it is the same point for
every country.

Irrelevant.  Some have suggested using Trinity as a start
point but since the one in use now is so common it would be
difficult to change it.

only an ending to awareness no one ever knows anything once
they are dead.

the Freedom of Choice.

The elimination of public expression, 
display or support of religion or 
religious positions.
