This is nuts, isn't it?!  I heard a news story here recently that the US 
DoD made vaccination optional, and soldiers soon afterwards started 
getting sick; that directive got quickly rescinded.

When one starts picking fights with the Universe, the result seems to be 
an inevitable one.
