That would be a non sequitur.

#1.  Life != Technological life

#2.  There is zero reason to travel around colonizing everywhere.

It's simply not economical. There are VAST resources on our planet
that we don't exploit simply because economics does not allow it
to be feasible. This can change. Eventually. Look at the so called
"Oil Sands" in Canada:  Bitumen. It's been know of for a hundred
years or more but even today is not the best return on investment.

   ...there's everything from archaeology to gold on the ocean
floor that nobody can justify grabby...


THERE'S AN EVER LARGER BIOLOGICAL BARRIER!

Ever hear of this thing called evolution? Well. Look at humanity.
Look at all the different cultures & customs. Look at all the
different languages. Look at all the different ethnicities. Look
at all the different races!

All those differences, every single one evolved due to far LESS
separation than even our closest solar system represents.

Meaning:  You can walk from northern most Europe to South Africa
in half the time (or a quarter of the time) then it would take
you to fly to the nearest solar system. So place a colony in the
nearest solar system and they're going to look every bit as
different as the northern most Europeans do to South Africans.

Again, "Evolution."

In no uncertain terms, colonizing everywhere in the galaxy
would be inventing competing SPECIES.

How long would it take?  I dunno. But just look at the MASSIVE
turn over in enthicities & language since Roman times!


Ethnicities/language are very fluid, and "Race" is more or less
an ethnicity dialed to 11...
