This is yet another piece of AAPC folklore that is built entirely upon fact.
George J. Dance publishes a blog (referred to in the folklore as a "blaaargh").
George's blog ("Penny's Pages") refers to his poem, "Penny's Hat," which was stolen from PJR (and his original poem, "Batty's Hat").
George Dance has often stated that he spends most of his time online working in his blog, so the comparison of the blog to Gollum and his "precious" is apt.
