It's been ten years since I've had Hillyer's poetry on the blog. But, with works going
back into the public domain in the U.S., I can now blog poems, like this one, from ten
years later in his career than the ones I used to use.

I find Hillyer to be an exceptional poet; not in the rank of Robert Frost (whom he most
resembles), but a talent in his own right. And he certainly needs the attention, as
he's been lost to the new generation, left out of the print anthologies and the like. In
his case, I don't think he was forgotten so much as deliberately censored out -- a whole
generation of poets and critics never forgave him for being the author of "Treason's
Strange Fruit," the article that began the attacks on Ezra Pound after Pound was
awarded the Bolingen Prize.
