I just gave up on this updating thing. I've had it with their idea of
progress and enhancements. My Net needs are simple.
My Agent 1.93 newsreader does very well. I did try a Forte update of
Agent some years ago. From my perspective, they pretty much screwed it
up entirely with "enhancements".
My XP is simple as any program could be. My wife, years back, went
with Win 7. It's a mess or extra menu and key strokes that in XP was
done with a single stroke. XP menus are clear and simple. As far as
I'm concerned, Redmond needed more dollars, so they screwed up XP and
called it Windows 7. Seven is a piece of dreck that I now have to use
for many sites which closed off XP.
I an having to use it quite a bit more, though, than just for the Web.
My XP box is kinda giving up the ghost. It locks up a lot and takes
2-3 minutes to boot. But I will eventually take it into one of the
comp repair places around here and have XP put back on. That's how
much I hate 7.
I just don't need super modern "enhanced" software. I download mp3s,
YouTube musical vids from years back, and some older movies. Movies
that were written containing a sense of values, not a continuous
stream of raping and killing women, as do the present evil Hollywood
garbage. According to my software library maker, I have about 50,000
mp3s. I never checked the number of vids, though. It's a LOT.
Anyway, that's pretty much my comp use, so who needs that MS 7-11
nonsense?
Sorry, for all the off topic drivel, but that's what happens when you
reach an ancient age. The only Golden thing about these Golden Years
is your pee.
