Years ago I put a removable HD kit in the AMD-450 that's in my work area. I loaded as many old operating systems on different drives as I could get my hands on...such as win3x, NT3x , OS/2 up to Win98. It took bit of work to find a video card that had good drivers support in all operating systems. I ended up with an S3 Trio. Have not used the machine in a year. Today while booting up I got a BIOS message about a video memory error.. When I pressed F1 to continue, the OS wouldn't load. I started going through my spare boards and at least found another S3...a Virge. Though I figured it would probably work, I decided to first investigate the defective one and noticed it had two, socketed RAM chips ...so I popped one put and got the bad one out my first try. Machine is working fine...and I don't need any extra video memory anyway. To celebrate, I played a game of Tetris !
