Terminology as misunderstood by a wide variety of people, not the
official dictionary definition, and even dictionaries from one English
speaking country to another fail to agree. Take the American meaning
of 'Naked' which is very confusing to a poor old Brit, look on Youtube
and almost any web site of American origin and you'll see that
partially clothed is naked to many Americans, the 'Naked Cowboy' in
New York for instance, who is quite obviously NOT naked, not by my
understanding of the word anyway. Naked hasn't picked up a bawdy
connotation here in the UK, if any word meaning unclothed has picked
this meaning up, it would be nude as synonymous with the Sun, which is
why Europeans prefer the term naturist to nudist.

Anna's list is very American oriented, and most certainly does not
represent the British understanding of the words. Here in the UK,
'adult' means grown ups, no children, in the US it can be construed as
being of a sexual nature. Lifestyle, as far as I'm aware, has no
swinger connotations here in the Untied Kingdom, which is why you'll
often read of the 'Naturist Lifestyle' and no doubt explains cause of
Anna's confusion when picking up on British newspaper reports.
