A post-Fourth of July beach cleanup took a terrifying turn when a Northern California man lost his hand while removing fireworks debris. According to a GoFundMe set up by Ashley Turner, her father Jason was walking along Point St. George Beach in Crescent City with his girlfriend on July 5, picking up firework trash in an effort to keep the area clean. When he went to pick up a piece of debris, a “bomb-like device unexpectedly went off,” the fundraiser explains. “The explosion resulted in the loss of his hand, turning what should have been a simple act of kindness into a life-changing emergency,” it further states, adding that he needed two more surgeries after having his hand amputated. He may also never see or hear again, the GoFundMe says. The GoFundMe has been set up to help Jason’s family through the difficult road to recovery. It explains that will go directly towards medical transportation, essential medications and hotel stays for him and his family during treatment. “He is the sole provider for his family and still has two children in school to care for,” the fundraiser says. “Every bit of support will help ease the burden and allow Jason to focus on healing.” Click here to donate. https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-jason-after-beach-accident https://ktla.com/news/california/california-man-loses-hand-while-cleaning -up-fireworks-debris-on-beach/
