  Actually, Using an xmpp server with 'Gajim' on Windows/Mac and/or 
'Conversations' on any Phone and computer is easier.  You can use a 
free XMPP server, such as the  xmpp.brax.me covered in another message 
above above.  It is very safe when used with OMEMO encryption or the 
PGP thingie.  If you have a server, it is supposed to be set an xmpp up 
easily.  The Brax one will be sufficient though.  I am not knocking 
NymX, but this is more easily understood and set up as a private email 
type of service.
