[telecom] cellular carriers **END** e-mail to phone gateways

ast practice: cellular phone systems often had a way
to send e-mails through a gateway which took those
messages and relayed them as a "text" ("sms") to
the desired phone.

Typically, if you were sending to, say, 213-867-5309, you'd
use the address 2138675309@[gatewayaddress]

in the case of t-mobile, that would be
"[email protected]"

Other carriers had their own gateways.

Note since this was prone to abuse, these
have had spam filters in place which often
just quietly shitcanned the message witout
any return notice.

Anyway, a week or two ago I noticed
messages I was sending my own phone weren't
arriving.

I tried numerous tests, including just a
simple five word msg.  Nothing.

So, it's off to Duckduckgo.com which got me:

Legacy email to text gateways such as Verizon's vText and AT&T's Email 
Messaging services have also been discontinued as carriers move toward more 
secure, registered messaging infrastructure
