Rep. Lori Trahan (D-MA) announced that she was the target of a bomb threat
on Saturday morning while at her home in Massachusetts, a little over a
week after a string of House and Senate Democrats were targeted by bomb
threats on Thanksgiving Day.

In a statement posted on X, Trahan said, “This morning, I was made aware
of a bomb threat targeting my family and me. I am grateful to the
excellent officers at the Westford Police Department who responded swiftly
and who are now working with the U.S. Capitol Police and Massachusetts
State Police regarding this incident.”

“It’s a good time to say the obvious: threats of violence and intimidation
have no place in our country,” she added.

According to Westford Police Department Capt. Michael Breault, the
department was made aware of the threat via an email early Saturday. The
state’s bomb squad then searched the house but did not find an explosive
device. Breault added that there was no longer a threat to public safety.

On Thanksgiving Day, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), as well as Reps. Jahana
Hayes (D-CT), Jim Himes (D-CT), John Larson (D-CT), and Joe Courtney (D-
CT), were the targets of bomb threats.

Just before Thanksgiving, Trump transition spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt
announced that many of President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees
were the target of bomb threats and “swatting.”

Those targeted included defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth; EPA
administrator nominee Lee Zeldin; Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Trump’s
incoming U.S. ambassador to the U.N.; and former Rep. Matt Gaetz, who
withdrew his nomination for attorney general.

Trahan secured reelection to Massachusetts’s 3rd Congressional District in
early November in an uncontested race. This will be her fourth term as a
House representative.
