Hi all. As long awaited, here is a overview of the current process, used to submit informations and articles on the usephp.net web site. I'll use this email as a starter for an article on the web site later on. The SPIP interface is based on articles processing, similarly to newspaper edition : articles are written, reviewed by peers, then by editor, then published. We'll use the same approach here. If you want to write an article, or submit a Press release, here is the process : 1 Ask for an account to [email protected] and [email protected]. Explain briefly what you're going to do there, and we'll set the account up. Send us a login. 2 With your account login and the password we'll send back to you, use your navigator with the URL http://beta.usephp.net/ecrire/. You'll be prompted for login and password. 3 Here you are in the administrative part of SPIP. Pretty nice piece of work, and it should be user friendly (if not English friendly) enough to allow easy use. Select a category for your article, and then go in there. Short description of the categories are available for every of them, so you can't get lost. 4 go in there, select an 'ecrire un nouvel article' and fill in the form. In this form there is : Sur titre : for a small text appearing above title (optional). Titre : Title itself. mandatory! Sous titre : for a small text appearing below title (optional). Descriptif rapide ; this is for resume. Keep is short. It will be used on listings pages. Chapeau ; Any introduction to the article. Optionnal. Texte : the article itself. Post-Scriptum : yeah, PS. When done, validate it. 5 You'll see the way the article will show up when in the web site. if it's not fitting your taste, go to the bottom of the page, and follow the link 'modifier cet article' which will modify it. 6 When you'll be done with writing, look for the 'Cet article est :' sentence, and set it to 'proposé à l'évaluation', which will make it available to all the current users of the web site. the big dot should turn orange. hit 'modifier' to validate this. 7. Now, send [email protected] an email, asking for review. People with access will be able to read this article before it is posted on the web, then comment and annotate it, using the linked forum. Every article gets its own forum, so as to be discussed. 8 When discussion are over, the article is published thanks to the moderators. Ta da! This should do the job. Wait for 1 hour cache to end, and you'll see yourself highly promoted on the usephp.net web site! Thanks for your comment! As part of the current effort, a translation for the interface is underway. Sorry for the inconvenience. Damien Seguy
