Maybe we can also maintain a list of php applications, with a link to the
product/application site. People can submit their
project/application/product to usephp.net. 

Than also less know applications can see the world. I think this can do the
same as apps.kde.com for KDE applications..

I think this is really an important section of the website. I never used the
SPIP CMS system, but the article editor, is it just a big text-area of can
you devide it into sections and so some publishing work on it.
Let's day you first have to give a title and category of the article. Next
you can write a paragraph. And later add a new paragraph to the article and
so on. And maybe we can create some templates for interviews, press
releases and other article types.

As mentioned before i'm currently write a proof-of-concept WebService in PHP
and write clients on ASP, .NET and PHP (Just to show not only PHP apps can
contant the PHP webservices).

I will also try to setup a list that is showing how thing can be done in
PHP. I think they're gonna be small articles. I'm not into Java. Maybe
someone else can write how thing that now are done in Java(2) can be done in
PHP.

I hear a lot that developers say that php4 is old and cannot to the things
asp, .net and java2 are doing right now.

If we have the perfect website for usephp.net and no content no-one will
ever visit usephp.net. So i agree to write first some content and not to
focus too much on the website.
