Poor TTF font rendering for smaller sizes

Hi Pierre/Everyone,

I have been using GD for the past few years, and one thing that has 
always bothered me is the poor text rendering up to and including 8px 
sizes. Of course, 8 is passible - the fuzziness can most easily be seen 
at 6 and 7px sizes.

Is this specifically an FT2 issue/limitation, or is there something that 
can be done between GD and FT2 to improve the quality?
