Problem with spacing on some ttf fonts

Hi,

I'm using gd (version 2.0.34) with php (5.2.13) on a hosting account. Lately we've noticed that some ttf fonts, mainly handwriting fonts are displaying with the spacing messed up. For example, please take a look here:  http://www.photocardcafe.com/fontstuff/img.php (this is the font Scriptina)

The odd thing is, these fonts worked in the past with the same script. I suppose the hosting company might have made an upgrade that broke things. I have a ticket open with them to find out if they did upgrade recently.

Does anybody know if there's a fix for this? Are there certain ttf fonts that don't work? If so, is there a list somewhere of which fonts do work ok?
