GD build process

Hi Folks,

I notice that there are two sets of build scripts in GD: one for GNU
autoconf and one for CMake.  Which of these is the preferred method for
building GD?

I ask because I'm trying to compile GD on Windows and I'd like to know
which wall I should be banging my head against.  Autoconf works fine on
Linux but fails on MSYS/MinGW, as does CMake.  I don't want to start
wrestling with one of them only to learn that the other is the one
being maintained.
