Scalability, Load balancing and Sessions

I've read the thread started by Samantha Savvakis 2000-03-30 about Scalability. According to one of the replies it's possible to do loadbalancing over several computers with PHP.. How?? Which products to use?? And does it support the use of sessions?? How?? BTW: How about MySQL.. How do I keep a consistent Database with several loadbalanced MySQL servers??
