Versioning issue on nix

Hello,

We have a fairly serious issue with the *nix end of the build system,
namely GTK library versioning is broken so users are only getting 2.6
features even if they have newer libs.  I have no clue how all that
automagic junk works so someone else is going to have to chase down the
issue, but I wanted to make sure it gets fixed as the cairo stuff is
getting ready to go in and the poor cairo guy can't build php-gtk with
2.12 support to test stuff ;)
