to answer you David i need this for a freeware named Maarch Capture Connector
that allows to scan documents and launch another freeware named Maarch
LetterBox (a freeware for E-Mail management and electronic management of
documents) in order to send an e-mail with the scanned documents as an
enclosure...

I tried another method described there
http://oops.opsat.net/doc/gtk/configure-php.html
but it still doesn't work

when i tape the command line php -m it answers:

>Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library
'/usr/lib/php/modules/php_gtk2.so' - /usr/lib/php/modules >/php_gtk2.so:

it seems that whatever I do Red Hat doesn't see and understand "php_gtk2.so"
i've already installed many packages: pkg-config 0.21, glib 2.12.3 , libpng
1.2.8, freetype 2.2.1, fontconfig 2.4.0, cairo 1.2.4, pango1.16.4, atk 1.9.1
, gtk2 -2.10.4, lignomeprint22 -2.12.1, gtksourceview 1.8.0, gtk+extra
2.1.1,php 5.2.13...
it seems that red hat see only packages that have been installed by rpm's
because i have installed all these packages with sources and they didn't
appear in the package manager (that why i reinstalled them all with rpm)....

i'm at the same point...but thank you a lot for helping me
