Thanks for your feedback. We have already started doing the XHTML markup fo=
r the designs but would be happy to do a draft for the pear website with th=
e 2 level menu afterwards. I assume the different subsites will need a slig=
htly adjusted color scheme etc anyway, correct? Anyone else any special wis=
hes?

In regards to the boxes, I think they are an essential part of the design, =
sure you guys could still decide to put all news in one box in the end, but=
 I think it looks very neat as it is. The padding and boxyness has the main=
 reason and advantage that the site is loosened up a bit. Where in the past=
 it was difficult to separate certain content visually, this is now much ea=
sier.

Looks alright, does each news item have to be in it's own box ? I'm
seeing too many boxes :-)
Also it would be kinda nice seeing how the design could handle menus
like we have in pear and pecl, 2 level ones that is.

We used to have everything on the left side but I found that to eat up
too much screen space, especially in the bug system, hence our menu
system all being at the top.

I'm also not sure about all this padding around the layout but I guess
it's a must to emphasize on the boxyness ?
