	Steph asked me to take a gander at your code and I just want to make sure 
that I fully understand what you're trying to accomplish.

If the hostname, username, and password are not in the preferences.inc file 
are you want the mainWindow() function to display the dialog for creating 
those entries.  When the user saves their info to that file you want the 
mainWindow() to remove the settings fields and then display the fields used 
to run a mySQL query.  If the settings exist when the proggie starts, you 
want to just display the query fields.

Does this sound about right?
