well. i've been playing with the idea for a long time to make something similar. Everybody is constantly nagging that javascript is such a bad scripting language for your browser. If one could find a way to create a specific API for a browser, then people like us could use php to script things client-side. But i didn't want to limit it to php. tcl, python, ... are candidates too. All we need is a datastructure representing the browser-properties/document-properties a la javascript-object-hierarchy, and we could just plug in whatever-scripting language we like to do things like client-side variable-checking, ... Must be difficult to do apparently cause i haven't seen anyone even try something like this before (or i just didn't find their products).
