why php ini not loading?

A phpinfo() gives this:

Configuration File (php.ini) Path	/private/etc

Loaded Configuration File            (none)

Why the php.ini is not loading?

The file is there already.

This is php 5.2.5 on Apache 2.2.8 and Mac OS X 10.5.2
