The culprit was a fix for a crash caused by exactly the same problem. All 
you did was hid the problem.

You should have just waited. Everything else was merged as soon as I was 
able to merge it. And if it really couldn't wait, reporting the bug to me 
might have been useful, rather than leaving it all to serendipity.
