?? haven't done in years. The point of .dsp generation was to make it 
possible to kill all the old .dsp files we currently have cluttering up PHP 
source.

Sure. That's why the Zend guys were interested in that .dsp generation 
project - not least because 'well-formed' .dsp files can easily be updated 
to work with newer MS compilers (and this could probably be automated, but 
I'll find out more when I install VC9 at the start of next year). Those 
project files aren't used for building alone...
