Compatibility across all builds?
Many of the times 'blanket' changes are applied the edge cases simply
get missed because nobody actually checked each change? :(

I'm still missing where BIGINT fit into this and that is the only area
where we need 64bit numbers that work transparently on a 32bit build?
Fixing one without also covering the other just seems wrong especially
if it then needs further changes in the same area?
