The problem is that most people won't respond because they won't see what to respond to. If it waited for 5 years, it can wait a couple of more days. Friday afternoon is a pretty bad time to start a new active mailing list. Most PHP developers don't do this full time, which means that even if they're at work, it doesn't mean at all that they're reading php-dev@.
