XML SAX & DOM together?!

Hi,

I am puzzled by a question about XML's SAX and DOM engines
compatibility.

Is it possible to have both installed, and use them interchangeably,
depending on the function calls.

Or you you have to choose only one. And if so, can WDDX library operate
with DOM XML or only SAX.
