php-mail-attachment

Hi everyone

Windows xp - apache 1.3.26 - php 4.2.3

I whish to send email with attachments. I tried differente type of
class, all with this kind of way to input the attach:

$linesz= filesize( $filename)+1;
$fp= fopen( $filename, 'r' );
$attach = chunk_split(base64_encode(fread( $fp, $linesz)));

but every attach in the mail are wrongs and 4,00KB of size.

Someone can help me please?
