Hi, We have setup a PHP mirror in our NYC datacenter, since we had additional machines that we wanted to donate to the php community. We power our entire site and system on php and wanted to give back. The reason why there needs to be a mirror in NYC is simple, 3 of the 4 servers in America are in the south west, two in California alone. The nearest mirror to NYC, and the entire east coast region which is densely populated, is in Michigan. We've let smokeping run for about a week to monitor ICMP and HTTP latency of PHP mirrors from a high performance network in NYC. The results are attached. The server is completely ready to go and synced with php, all we need is approval and a php.net subdomain. On a side note you'll also notice the latency of Fremont is almost twice as high as of any other mirror both for ICMP and HTTP latency. Thanks, Dan Khasis www.oosah.com
