Hi, I have my personal e-mail - [email protected] - hosted by Mailtrust which is owned by Rackspace (aka Rackspace Noteworthy). I was having trouble sending mail to my [email protected] e-mail address from Mailtrust hosted e-mail accounts and contacted their support team to look into it; specifically their SMTP server was rejecting the e-mail because it said [email protected] didn't exist. **** Rackspace said: 2008-09-23 15:51:07 (UTC+1) Hi David, Thanks for that update. The information helped out greatly. The nature of this error message is because Noteworthy checks locally for a domain before referring to MX records. If the domain is found from within Noteworthy, it does not use the MX record values. Furthermore, if the domain is found, but the mailbox is not, then the message will bounce in the manner you posted. That being said, the domain php.net does exist within Noteworthy, but that mailbox is not assigned to it. The domain is hosted by one of our divisions, MOSSO, and I will contact them to try and remove this domain, or at least straighten this all out for you so you can send to them. Please allow around 30 minutes for the changes to happen, and possibly up to another 15 for the changes to fully propagate, and then you should be able to send to this user just fine. **** I have asked them why the php.net domain existed on their system: **** Rackspace said: 2008-09-23 16:10:14 (UTC+1) Hello David, Unfortunately, I do not know how that domain got added to MOSSO, or who was on the account that added it, but one of their accounts added that domain somehow, and it somehow got added to Noteworthy. Perhaps it may be something you might want to run by your contact over at php.net to let them know that there may be some security issues going on there. **** So yeah, are any php.net domains actually hosted by Mosso and if not, is this something that needs looking into? -- David Mytton www.mytton.net / www.econversions.co.uk
